Idea: Paw Painting Gala Art Show Fundraiser 

Premise: Animals available for adoption from the rescue will create professionally styled paintings. The paintings can be done on canvas and professionally matted and framed. These paintings are then given names reminiscent of great works of art and described as one would describe a work created by a master such as Monet, Rembrandt, Kandinsky or PAW-casso. Cite examples of shadowing, chiaroscuro, the artist's sense of playing with light, the interesting uses of color, and the detailed 'paw-strokes' used.

A bio of the animal artist and a photo of the animal will be provided in a smaller frame that will accompany the artwork when sold. The paw paintings can be sold for $100 or more during the auction time or sold individually as part of an art show.

Idea: Flamingo Flocking Fundraiser  

Premise: The idea is to fill a person's yard with a flock and then, for a donation, the flock will be removed and sent on to another house the homeowner recommends. One Wisconsin church averaged $25 per flight, with donations ranging from $10 to $200. The church raised $2,000 toward its summer youth servant trip.

Varition 2: Get a bunch of pink flamingos (we paid $5.99 for six flamingo driveway reflectors through Oriental Trading Post) Other resources might be Walmart - I've been told that they can order them for you in the Spring; some garden stores also have them in stock or can get them for you. If you decide on the large plastic birds, expect to pay about $10 for 2.

The idea is that the yard will look so hideous with the pink birds that the church member will be more than happy to give a donation toward the fund raiser to get them out of there.

Some options to consider are:
*pre-sell flamingo insurance to prevent yards from getting flocked;
*when a church member gets flocked, they get to pick the next victim; and
*have a map at the church that charts their progress.

We found this fund raiser to provide benefits far beyond what was expected.

Letting the member whose yard is flocked chose the next yard included far more members than we expected. Not only members who attended worship every Sunday were flocked - we used it as an outreach tool. We flocked people who rarely attended, or who had only just started visiting! We discovered that no one was willing to be the last one to pass them on!

Everyone was interested in where the flocks were (we had four flocks out). Conversation between members on Sun. morning usually started with, "I saw the flamingos in your yard...." The birds really brought the "family" together. And we even heard, "I'm glad they came to our house. I thought we were going to be left out."

Allowing for donations instead of a set fee increased our income. The average donations was $25, but donations actually ranged from $10 - $200! We were able to raise close to $2,000 for our summer youth servant trip.

Give it a try - we had a GREAT time with the cute, pink, little birds!

Idea: Demolish Something Fund raiser

Premise: If you know of a building in the area that is going to be demolished, sell raffle tickets to win a chance to push the "button". Coventry Myton Hospice in the UK did this as a fundraiser and had great success. They mention that the media exposure helped increase the number of donations.

Needed: A building or home that is going to be torn down.

Idea: Womanless Beauty Pageant Fundraiser

Premise: Recruit men to dress as a “beautiful woman” and participate in a womanless beauty pageant. Contestants wear makeup, evening gowns and even have a talent competition. Area contestants turn into raving beauties and the crowd never stops laughing. Donations come from ticket sales as well as food items. It is a hilarious evening that has raised thousands of dollars.

Needed: Men to dress up as beatiful women.

Idea: Pajama Day Fundraiser 

Premise: This is a great fundraising idea where the kids can get involved. Pajama Day at school! Students donate $1 to wear their pajamas on a designated day at school. You could have little grab bags and give them as prizes to the child with the "best dressed" pajamas, most creative, etc. Even the teachers could donate and get involved. Great way to raise school spirit and kids love it.

Idea: Hunt for Jewels

Premise: For our small school we had a few local jewelers donate un set gem stones and about 200 fake cz's. We put these is plastic easter eggs and hid them around campus. We charged $10 to be able to participate in "the hunt". We had advertised thu school paper and ads in local paper. We made out extremely well and so did the jewelers who donated the stones because even the people who found the cz's wanted to have them set in rings. To add to the excitement a gemologist tested all the cz's to help identify the two real diamonds ... what fun. We also sold refreshments

Needed: Local Jewelers, 200 fake and 1 or 2 jems, plastic eggs

Idea: Soup swim

Premise: The Good Samaritan Inn in Ontario, Canada offered a Chevy Silverado up for grabs. For a $5 donation each participant is given an opportunity to dive into a 2.4 m x .7 m swimming pool filled with warm chicken soup and nearly 100 unmarked keys for an opportunity to win the truck.

Premise: A name tag (the plastic kind you slide a business card size piece of paper into with the pin on the back -you can buy them at any office supply store) and put a small picture of my son with a little line - Ask how you can support our team in this year.
